Malta Fashion Week Day 1 – talent beneath the Maltese skies

This year I could not join Malta Fashion Week, but it’s definitely on my next year’s schedule!

Since it just started, I thought I’d gather some impressions and share them with you.

This year is the seventh edition of the Malta Fashion Week. The Valletta 2018 Foundation, in collaboration with the Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week, is supporting the event. Taking place in an idyllic setup, this is set to be one of the best editions so far, with such a diverse array of designers and bloggers, supporters or journalists.

Under the Maltese sky, and proudly taking on the runway, around 19 local designers will be showcasing their work at this year’s Malta Fashion Week, alongside international designers from Serbia, Italy, France, Romania and Greece.

Malta Fashion Week serves as an important platform for the designers’ creative growth particularly in terms of networking, exposure and visibility in the local and international scene.

Day 1 of Malta Fashion Week already glowed, and some beautiful shots were captured by Kurt Paris, backstage from RosemarieAbela.

The beauty of black and white photos I think can never be surpassed 🙂 it just remains pure, simple and elegant.

Passing on from backstage to on stage, I’ve selected some of my favorite looks from the RosemarieAbela La Cuppola fashion show. The below shots were taken by JCiappara Photography.

Loved the black and white ensembles, because this is one of my most adored looks, and I would opt for the black voluminous skirts for the AW season. What I did love about this collection was the insertion of architectural elements, such as the dome dorée on a white maxi dress.

Day 1 also stunned with a beautiful jewelry exhibition, Yana Azzopardi’s collection, quite enchanting, I might add.

The pieces of statement necklaces, with large stones combined with fabric and smaller precious stones were shown on metal structures, making it all more powerful as a brand image.

The photos below were taken by Ronald Camilleri.

The day continued with a show by Sarah Caruana Dingli and Nilara, and ended in a glam fashion party. I’ll show you more about that in a future post.

XO,

Olivia.
