On one of our journeys this winter, we headed off to a wintery destination, and had an incredibly journey with the the Mocănița Steam Train in the North of Transylvania.
We spent about 5 days in Cluj-Napoca and explored the city, enjoyed mulled wine at the Christmas Market and took the bus for what was about to be one of the most amazing journeys. Think about movies in the 50s, epic scenery, a fire lodge, snow, and a vintage charm.
Just like in an old romance movie, or a fairytale from northern Transylvania, we went on a journey with one of the oldest steam trains, Mocăniţa, that goes through valleys, mountains, and stunning scenery. The steam train was built before 1920s, but it was rehabilitated for tourism. It is one of my bucket list things to do in Romania, and I am soo glad we did it! I really recommened it if you are up to a romantic day with your partner.
The journey was more beautiful because we were lucky that day it snowed. It was freezing outside, and we stopped for lunch for about one hour and a half, and ran around trying to take more photos. It was quite hard to get these photos as the train was in movement, but @thelifeofjord managed it like a pro!
Have a look, and tell me what do you think. Have you ever been on a steam train before?
